Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that stimulates your body's natural healing response. By delivering high-energy acoustic waves to injured tissues, shockwave therapy helps improve blood flow, reduce chronic inflammation, break down scar tissue and calcifications and encourage the repair of tendons, ligaments, muscles and bone.
At Middlesex Chiropractic & Rehabilitation, we use the Storz Medical shockwave system - trusted by healthcare professionals and elite sports organizations worldwide - to help patients recover from both chronic and acute musculoskeletal conditions.
HOW DOES SHOCKWAVE THERAPY WORK?
When tissues become injured or overloaded, the body's healing response can sometimes stall. Shockwave Therapy delivers focused mechanical energy into the affected area, stimulating cellular activity and encouraging the body to restart the healing process.
Benefits may include:
Many patients notice improvement after just a few treatments, although a series of treatments is typically recommended for the best results.
WHAT CONDITIONS CAN SHOCKWAVE THERAPY TREAT?

Most patients describe the sensation as a series of rapid pulses or tapping. An area that is more irritated or inflamed may feel temporary tender during treatment, but the intensity can be adjusted for your comfort level. A typical treatments lasts 5-15 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
Every patient is different, but most conditions will respond well to 3-6 treatments spaced approximately 1 week apart.
